Jam Wuro

The Project

The mission, community partnerships and local economic vision behind Jam Wuro in Linkering, southern Senegal.

Why we started

When we first arrived in Linkering, we discovered a village full of hospitality, strong traditions and hard-working people, but also limited economic opportunities. Instead of building another lodge, Jam Wuro is built around one question: how can this benefit Linkering?

Our vision

Tourism is not the goal. Tourism is simply the engine for local work, local businesses, local production and local pride.

Local partnerships

Builders, cooks, suppliers, farmers and families should be part of the project wherever possible.

Learning by doing

Hospitality, food, languages, maintenance and small business skills grow through daily practice.

Slow growth

Jam Wuro grows only as the village team can manage it well.

Employment

Create paid roles around hosting, cooking, cleaning, construction, supply and management.

Local sourcing

Buy food, materials and services nearby before looking outside the village.

Sustainability

Use solar, water planning and low-waste choices because they make practical sense here.

Transparent growth

Show progress publicly and avoid pretending that unfinished facilities already exist.
